Brian May and Roger Taylor announce ‘colossal’ Freddie Mercury Queen news
Back in March, Sir Brian May exclusively let slip to me that a “stupendous” new Freddie Mercury Queen project was in the works. And now the official announcement has landed that Queen Budapest has been restored in 4K by Peter Jackson’s team for its 40th anniversary and his headed to cinemas and IMAX this autumn.

TL;DR
- Queen's 1986 concert in Budapest, Hungary, has been restored in 4K for its 40th anniversary.
- This was the first concert by a Western rock band behind the Iron Curtain, attracting 80,000 attendees and many more listening outside.
- The film represents the last filmed live performance of Queen as a four-piece with Freddie Mercury.
- Peter Jackson's team restored the original 35mm footage and audio, enhancing the viewing experience for cinemas and IMAX.
- The restored film will be released in cinemas and IMAX from October 7, with home media versions available from October 30.
