A Dog’s Perfect Christmas review: Netflix kicks off holiday movie season with a whimper
Dennis Quaid is wasted in a predictable drama with a cute basset hound and not much more
TL;DR
- Netflix has started its holiday movie season with the release of 'A Dog's Perfect Christmas' in early November.
- The film is criticized for being formulaic and unoriginal, lacking the self-awareness of other holiday movies.
- Despite featuring two dogs, a medical crisis, and a love interest, the movie is described as indistinct and resistant to attention.
- The plot has low stakes, even when a character faces a life-threatening condition, and the exposition is often blunt.
- Some positive aspects include enjoyable ice dancing scenes, a popular song drop, and a pleasant setting, but these are not enough to elevate the film.
- The movie is expected to perform adequately due to the high volume of holiday content and its availability on Netflix.
