Right-wing reports describe a deadly crash in South Sinai as both a human tragedy and a major emergency response in an area known for Red Sea tourism.

A bus rollover on the Dahab-Nuweibaa road in Egypt’s South Sinai has killed at least 16 people and injured 28 others, according to the country’s health authorities. The crash occurred on a route serving a region popular with visitors for its coastal scenery, diving and snorkelling.

The accounts agree on the toll and location, but place different emphasis on the immediate aftermath. One report said the incident happened in the southern Sinai Peninsula, describing the area as a tourism hub where Egypt meets the Red Sea, while reporting that authorities confirmed 16 deaths and 28 injuries.¹

A second account specified that the bus had rolled over and said 16 people were declared dead at the scene. It reported that the other 28 people were taken to hospital for treatment, underscoring the scale of the emergency response.²

Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said officials were taking measures “to provide the highest level of medical care to the injured, to provide all necessary supplies and medicines, and to maintain continuous coordination with the relevant authorities in South Sinai Governorate.”² The health ministry also said its central operations room was activated after the report of the crash, with 20 ambulances sent to evacuate and provide first aid to those hurt.²

The reports did not provide further details on the cause of the rollover or identify the victims. They noted, however, that the crash follows another fatal road accident in Egypt’s Ismailia Governorate last month, in which 15 people were killed and 32 injured.²
