Three people were injured in a firearms incident in Braintree town centre late on Monday, prompting a major police response and an appeal for information. While the investigation remains active, Essex Police says the circumstances do not point to a random attack.

The incident was reported at about 10.10pm in Market Place. All three injured people were taken to hospital, with injuries not believed to be life-threatening; one person has been arrested and remains in custody.¹
