Right-wing says Cyprus Airways’ London return will widen choice for UK travellers

Supportive coverage frames Cyprus Airways’ return to the London market as a welcome expansion of travel choice, while also stressing Cyprus’s importance to British holidaymakers and the airline’s effort to rebuild international links.

Cyprus Airways is set to restore a daily direct link between London Stansted and Larnaca from April 23, 2027, returning to a London market the carrier last served regularly before 2015. The planned service is being presented as a new option for British leisure, business and family travellers rather than simply a seasonal holiday route.

Coverage from the right describes the move as a boost for a destination that already draws large numbers of visitors from Britain. One report notes that UK travellers accounted for 31.8% of Cyprus’s tourist arrivals in 2025, underlining the commercial case for a direct connection to Larnaca. It also points to the island’s appeal across beach holidays, cultural visits and winter-sun breaks.

The airline’s leadership places greater emphasis on connectivity than on tourism promotion alone. Chief executive Thanos Pascalis called the Stansted launch “an important addition to the Cyprus Airways network,” saying it reflected a strategy of strengthening links between Cyprus and key European markets. He said demand from the UK spans leisure travel, business trips and visits to friends and relatives.

Both accounts agree that the UK remains a strategically important market and that the route gives passengers another way to reach Cyprus. They differ mainly in focus: travel-oriented coverage highlights Larnaca’s climate, attractions and fare options, while the airline frames the service as part of a broader network expansion. Pascalis said adding Stansted would provide customers with “greater choice and flexibility” while reinforcing the carrier’s presence in one of Cyprus’s most significant international markets.

The service is due to operate year-round, with one report listing Economy Basic return fares from €423, or about £355, and outlining upgraded Economy Flex and Business Class options.
